Growing Up through Christ

I Corinthians 13:10-12, "But when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."

The time has come to turn from childish ways to embrace the ways of God. Resistance is futile. God has a plan and a purpose for you if you have been called. The Holy Spirit will work on you and work on you until you turn to him.

Mark 4: 9- 13 "Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." When he was alone, the twelve and the others around him asked him about parables. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, "they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!" Then Jesus said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? "

When your ears are opened, you no longer have the freedom to declare yourself innocent because you didn't know any better. The time has come to grow up. We are no longer children, and though we may have fun, be joyous, and filled with the laughter of life we are called for a higher purpose. We must depart from our immature ways. The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to us. We do see, perceive, and understand. What we fail to do is die to ourselves to receive the total blessing of God's perfect will.

Romans 8: 9-16 states "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation- but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit  you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of Sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."

If you are an heir to the kingdom, then you are truly a prince or a princess. The time has come to die to the sinful nature, take your crown, and behave according to God's word and the direction of the Holy Spirit.

I pray that the Holy Spirit bothers you as much as he is bothering me about separating ourselves from things of this world and submitting to God's perfect will for our lives.  Through that submission, we can truly be the disciples of God that we are supposed to be. God bless you and keep you.
